Meet Melanie Meet Melanie A Functional Nutritional Therapist with An Extensive Culinary Background

My name is Melanie Alvarez and I’m a Holistic Nutritional Therapist. I originally studied Culinary Arts and worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade prior to obtaining my degree in Nutritional Science, so I’m essentially a “functional foodie.” I also studied developmental and abnormal psychology extensively, and I specialize in the gut-brain connection. This includes the psychology of eating: how what you eat affects how you feel, and visa-versa. It’s all connected! I pride myself in looking at the whole person, not just localized symptoms, and connecting puzzle pieces often considered to be unrelated.

Everyone has different goals and starting points. I meet my clients where they’re at and we build and grow from there, based on their individual needs. I strive to create a safe space for my clients to feel heard, validated, and supported. My job is to educate, guide, and empower the people I work with to make sustainable lifestyle shifts that improve their quality of life and their relationship with food. It brings me so much joy and satisfaction to know that I have helped someone change their life for the better.
